Expectations.

Three different types of standards are relevant to educator preparation:
​
  • standards that reflect the field’s settled expectations regarding content, pedagogy, and performance;
  • standards that reflect the field’s commitment to investigation and innovation around agreed-upon challenges; and
  • standards held by states and programs themselves that are relevant to mission and context.

​The Expectations Working Group is considering how each type of standard can be incorporated into a quality assurance system, recognizing the need to simultaneously ensure accountability and support innovation. A comprehensive and effective quality control system will be useful to the extent that it addresses common requirements and aspirations as well as state mandates and local missions.

Charge

The Working Group is charged with developing clear statements of standards and evidence expectations.
